Give your day a pop of sunshine with this fun, tasty, kid-friendly craft!
Winter is over and it looks like sunny days are coming our way. To celebrate, me and my three-year-old daughter made Marshmallow Sunshine Slime.
With a bright yellow colour, Marshmallow Sunshine Slime is a bright and happy craft. You can whip it up in a few minutes and it is perfect for kids of any age.
Marshmallow Sunshine Slime is seriously addictive to play with. It feels like putty in hand, but it smells like dessert. Best of all, it’s a safe and easy craft. That’s right, Marshmallow Sunshine Slime is completely edible.
Made with marshmallows, oil, powdered sugar, cornstarch, sprinkles, and food colouring, you can play with Marshmallow Sunshine Slime and take a bite too. It’s actually pretty tasty!
It all starts with mini marshmallows. To whip up your own batch, place the marshmallows with oil in a microwave safe bowl. Naturally fluffy on their own, marshmallows are a great base for this slime. Adding in the oil makes the slime more malleable and squishy. (Yep, squishy is a technical slime term.) Plus, it helps keep the marshmallows together and not stick to the bowl too much.
You’ll want to microwave the marshmallows on high in 10-second intervals. Carefully mix the marshmallow mixture before returning it to the microwave. Continue this until the marshmallows are evenly melted. Microwaving the marshmallows in short spurts helps them to melt more evenly.
When the marshmallows are melted, they’ll be super sticky. You may notice some extra oil at the bottom of the bowl. The marshmallows only need enough oil to keep them from being too sticky. If the slime seems a little greasy, that’s ok. Slime can be a little slimy.
If you plan on adding some colour to your Marshmallow Sunshine Slime, now is the time. Carefully add 4 to 5 drops of colour to the marshmallow mixture. You may want to add more colour to make it as bright and vibrant as you want. It will be a little sticky to mix, but you’ll be able to get that perfect sunny colour.
To make the Marshmallow Sunshine Slime easy to handle, add powdered sugar and cornstarch on a plate. Give them a gentle mix to combine before adding the marshmallow mixture. Carefully mix the marshmallow into the sugar mixture until the slime is easy to handle. You don’t need to add all of the sugar mixture, just add enough so that the slime is no longer sticky.
The last step is to add some sprinkles. It gives the Marshmallow Sunshine Slime some texture and adds a little pop of sunshine.
With a soft texture, this slime is so much fun to play with. It was hard to get a picture of my daughter playing with Marshmallow Sunshine Slime because her hands kept moving. It’s just that much fun to play with. Fluffy, smooth and smells like a sweet treat – what’s not to love!
