Surprise your special someone with a unique and heartfelt gift that brings a smile to their face! 60 Things We {Love} About You is the perfect gift for the person who has everything. You can share messages of love and all the things you love about a special someone.
When it comes to gift giving, getting the right present can feel like a challenge. What do they want? What do they need? Chances are, they could probably get it for themselves. So, what kind of gift can you get?
This past year my mom celebrated her 60th birthday. With a milestone birthday this big, I knew I needed to celebrate it with a special gift. Over the years, I’ve covered the gamut of gifts – from seeing a play to buying special little gifts. This time I needed a really special gift.
When I tried to think of the perfect 60th birthday gift idea for my mom, all that came to mind were the fun (and sometimes zany) times we’ve spent together. From travelling to shopping and even wearing matching outfits, there were so many memories. The more memories I thought of, the clearer the gift became.
I would give a gift filled with all the things we love about my mom. The gift would be from me, my daughter, and my husband. It would be filled with 60 reasons we love her – one memory (or reason) for each of her 60 years.
I created a file on my computer called “60 Things We {Love} About You” and I started filling it with ideas. Thinking about my childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and even motherhood, memories of my mom flooded through me. Over the next few weeks, I added more memories to the list. I’d reach for my phone and quickly jot something down or I’d wake up in the middle of the night and scribble down another one.
Making this gift was sincerely a joy, but giving it to my mom was even better.
On the day of her birthday, with the framed gift resting on her lap and my two-year-old daughter draped over her arm, I watched as my mom read the list aloud. She laughed at the funny memories and teared up at the sentimental ones. She probably read through the list at least five times before proudly displaying it on the wall.

Give a gift that no one else can give, but you!
Seeing how much joy this gift gave my mom, I wanted you to be able to make one too. Customers and their families have loved this gift just as much as my mom.
My mom started crying immediately when she opened her gift. She loved it and read it over and over again. She hung it up right away and said thank you so many times,” (Kelly said about 60 Things We {Love} About You – Download).
60 Things We {Love} About You can be a gift from one person or from a group of people.
This is a wonderful gift for anyone you love. Gave this to my sister for her 60th birthday last night and she said it’s one of the most special gifts she ever received. Very emotional. We have a joke in our family about ‘taking this with me’ – she has decided this is going with her 🙂 It was a nice family project, too. Everyone got to contribute their special memories. It looked beautiful in the matted, wood frame we purchased.” (Paula said about 60 Things We {Love} About You – Custom Copy).
You can share the gift at a party.
The gift was such a hit at my dad’s party – everyone from our extended family took part and we had it displayed in the centre of the room where people could go find the memory they contributed to the gift. I would recommend this gift idea to everyone!” (Jackie said about 60 Things We {Love} About You – Custom Copy).
Most importantly, 60 Things We {Love} About You touches the hearts of those who receive it.
This gift brought my mother-in-law to tears! She shared that it was one of the most meaningful gifts that she’s ever received!” (Mikki said about 60 Things We {Love} About You – Custom Copy).
When you give 60 Things We {Love} About You, you are not just giving a framed picture. You are giving a gift that tells them just how important and loved they are. What could be better than that?

I received this gift for my birthday and then I made one for my sister when she turned 60.
My sister loved this gift!! Absolutely beautiful!!
Such a beautiful gift!!
Hi! I ordered the 11×13 size. How do I print it at Office Depot or Staples? Will they do a custom print? Whenever I upload the picture it automatically re-sizes to an 8 1/2×11 size. Thank you!
Hi Sheri! Customers have printed their gifts at Walmart, Costco, and other stores that print images on photo paper. You can ask the company where you are uploading the picture why it is resizing. The image is designed to be 11×13.
Would you be able to do this for 75?
Thanks!
Hi Kelly! Thanks for your interest. All of the text is editable. This gift can be made for a 75th birthday. With the custom copy version, I am happy to make this template for a 75th birthday. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am happy to answer any questions via email jessica@thishappymommy.com.
Is 11×13 centimetres or inches?
Victoria, the sizes are in inches. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
can you do 75 reasons we love gramma?
Yes, the title can be changed. ????
This gift is such a great idea!!!
Thanks Elena! ?
hi Jessica-
I’m excited to use your template! When I purchased it I accidently clicked out of the window with the link and now I am not sure how to get it back to open?
thanks!
Kate
Hi Kate! Please email me your receipt at jessica@thishappymommy.com and I’d be happy to help you.
I did, thanks! It’s coming from my husband, Tyler. thank you!!
Great! I emailed it to you. Hope you enjoy making the gift!
I am having a hard time editing the text in Adobe Photoshop. Any tip?
Hi Sarah! In Photoshop, you’ll see a “T” icon on the left side. Once you click on that, you’ll be able to edit the text.
Excellent!! Very thoughtful and nice !!!!
I just wanted to say thank you for this wonderful idea! It was a huge hit and my dad LOVED IT!! I know he will cherish it forever!
Thanks Amy! I love hearing that!! I’m sure he will cherish it forever!! ?
I love this idea so much!!!! I struggle each year with getting gifts for my parents – who have everything they need. Next birthday, I know what to do for them! Thank you so much! <3
We are surprising my dad (he is a pastor) this weekend with a birthday party celebrating his 60th birthday. I had family and church members write down what they love about him. I can’t wait to put it all together and give it to him. He is so selfless and is always putting others before himself. I felt it was time someone did something for him! My question is…I have photoshop elements 9. Will that work?
That sounds amazing Amy! I haven’t tried it with Photoshop Elements. If it doesn’t work, you can always download a free trial version of Photoshop. Good luck! ?
Thanks! I decided to just download the free trial version for time sake.
That’s great!! Hope your dad enjoys it! ?
I’ve downloaded the template in Dropbox but Photoshop doesn’t “see it,” so I can’t use it. I’m using an iPad. Could that be the problem? Also, what size frame did you use/how big is the design?
I haven’t used photoshop on iPad. If you have access to a computer, maybe try it there. The print is designed as 11×13. Good luck! ?
I absolutely love this idea! We cherish so many memories of our family and friends so it becomes a very special gift when someone recalls the happy times. Your gift is full of gratitude too! Awesome job!
Thanks!! I am so touched by your kind words! ?
Jessica – great idea. My sister and I are using it for our mom’s 60th. Question: How did you go about printing and framing the finished product?
Thanks Zachary!! Hope your mom loves it. ? The print is a standard size – 11×13. I printed it at a local photo centre and I purchased a frame.
Hi Jessica,
Love this!! My brother and I are making this for my mom’s birthday in a couple of days. We have it personalized from your download, but we are wanting to print it out in a 16×20 format to fit in a 16×20 frame. I was going to have it printed (at Walgreens or something) as a matte poster to put in a frame. Do you think this will work?
Will it print just fine in 16×20 format even though the format you said it’s in is 11×13?
What is the best kind of paper to have it printed on? And do you recommend matte or glossy if it’s going to be behind a frame?
Would really appreciate your guidance!
Thank you!
Thanks Christa! 60 Things We {Love} About You is available in 11×13, 16×20 and 24×36. I have never tried printing a 16×20 print from an 11×13 image. I prefer printing on matte, but it’s a personal preference. Hope you mother enjoys the gift!
Lovely idea, I enjoyed the write up and i can understand why your mom will read it at least 5times before putting it up.
You’re so sweet!! Thank you!! ?
This is a great idea! Question for you….I downloaded the font for the heart. How do you actually make the hearts when typing in photoshop?. Does that make sense? Probably a stupid question! 🙂
Thanks Becky! Love Romance is a symbol font. Typing the letter “b” will create the heart shape.
What a beautiful picture of you, Jessica! You look like Lady Mary from Downton Abbey, ( if you’ve been following Downton in January on PBS, that is) Happy 60th to your mom 🙂 For my 60th (February 2) I took a running jump off a mountain in Cape Town, S. Africa, tethered to my tandem paragliding pilot! We flew over the ocean and landed on the grassy area along the esplanade. Whoo-hoo, what an amazing experience! I felt like a mama bird – on top of the world! Thanks for liking my post. xo
Thanks Jennifer!! You’re so sweet! Sounds like you had one amazing 60th birthday celebration. I’d love to do something like that. ?
I sure did! 🙂 They used to say life begins at 40. Well I guess 60 is the new 40 and my life has kicked into gear for sure!
That’s amazing!!
Wow, Jessica! Fell in love with your site as soon as I laid eyes on it. Coincidentally, next weekend is my kids’ grandma’s 85 year birthday. We are going to mimic your incredible and emotionally stirring birthday gift idea. Keep those genius ideas coming!!
Thanks MJ!! You’re so sweet. Hope she enjoys the gift! ?
Hi Jessica, all your DIY projects are lovely and thoughtful, but I tell you from experience: anything coming from children to mom and dad is precious!
Thanks!! I agree, parents always love gifts from their kids. ?
Wait till you get to your parent’s age! You’ll see how much you will appreciate it then. Your parents are blessed!
You are so sweet! Thank you.
Is there a specific word count to make sure it will work properly?
No, there’s no specific word count. If it doesn’t fit perfectly, you can always play around with font size.
Thank you! So excited to get this done for my sisters 60th birthday!!
Sounds great! Hope she enjoys it! ?
Hello Jessica, I think your 60 things we love about you template is great, you will have to excuse me however I downloaded illustrator and I can’t figure out how to edit the words in your template. I wondered if you knew any tips?
Hi Ian! You need to download photoshop. Then you’ll be able to edit it. Good luck!! ?
Your mom is a very lucky woman, she has got a wonderful daughter – you!
You are too sweet! Thank you! ?
What size will that be for a frame? Love the idea!!
Thanks Sabrina! Any frame that can accommodate an 11×14 picture would be perfect! 🙂
OMG That is absolutely wonderful! What a beautiful way to show someone how much you care about them. I am definitely going to have to do this!
Thank you!! It was so much fun to make. Best if luck making your own. ?
I LOVE this!
I don’t have Photoshop though. Is there any other way of doing this?
Thanks Helen! The template is only available in Photoshop.
Ahh, ok. Thanks for your reply x
Jessica, I commented I loved this and I actually ended up using this idea for my daughter’s 25th birthday a week ago. I will post a pic so you can see. It turned out really cute! Thanks for posting this.
That is so amazing!! I’m so happy to hear that. I would love to see it! 🙂
Such a great idea! I love this.
Thanks Kristy! You’re so sweet! 🙂
We both love the gifts that you made. We walk by & read bits of it everyday. I also love the book that you made for me on my 60th
I am so happy that you love them!! 🙂
