This chicken is definitely not too sweet. The sweetness of the sauce is perfectly balanced with the spice of garlic and ginger, the tart of apple cider vinegar, and the salty, earthy flavour of soy sauce.
The icing on this already tasty chicken is sesame seeds, adding a fun little crunch and a rich, nutty flavour.
Whether to Marinate Apple Teriyaki Chicken
Apple Teriyaki Chicken is a delicious, juicy chicken marinated in a lightly sweetened, fruity flavoured teriyaki sauce. You can whip up the sauce ahead of time and even marinade the chicken during the day.
When you marinate your chicken for one hour, you give the chicken time to absorb the delicious apple teriyaki sauce. And believe me, it taste even better when you let it soak up the sauce. If you want an even stronger flavor, you can marinade it overnight.
Once your chicken is finish marinating, it’s time to bake. And in 20 minutes, you’ll have an amazing chicken that everyone in the family will love.

How to Make Apple Teriyaki Chicken
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Cooking chicken at the high temperatures keeps your chicken juicy while at cooks to perfection. At the higher temperatures there is less chance of drying out the chicken. And it cooks faster. That’s a definite win-win!
Step 2: Make the Apple Teriyaki Sauce
In a large skillet over medium heat, you will combine most od the ingredients – apple sauce, soy sauce, honey, sugar, corn starch, vinegar, garlic, and ginger – to make the teriyaki sauce. Cooking it for 3 to 5 minutes, allows the sauce to thicken and condense. When this happens the flavours increase. This makes it taste even better before cooking it with your chicken.

When the sauce thickens, you can remove it from the heat and allow it to cool. You don’t want the sauce to be too hot before adding it to the chicken, especially if you plan on marinating the chicken in the fridge before cooking it.
Step 3: Marinate the Chicken
In baking dish, evenly cover chicken with sauce. Now you can marinate the chicken in the fridge until it is time to bake.
You can cook the chicken right away or you can marinate it over night. Either way, this will be one delicious chicken dish.
Step 4: Bake
When it’s time to bake, cook your chicken for 20 to 25 minutes. You’ll know that you chicken is ready to eat when it cooks to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
Plate your Apple Teriyaki Chicken with your favorite side dish – salad, potatoes, rice, or broccoli are some of our favorites – and sprinkle it with sesame seeds. The seeds give it a pop of nutty flavor, which just makes it taste even better.
