Ingredients

  • Flat back glass gemstones
  • White Glue (Mod Podge)
  • A white piece of paper
  • Pencil/pen
  • Scissors
  • Magnets

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F (220 C).
  2. Place glass gemstones on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes.
  3. Just before gemstones are finished baking, place ice and water in a plastic bowl.
  4. When the gemstones are done, immediately put them in ice cold water.
  5. Carefully remove glass stones with a spoon. Most will be cracked on the inside, but some may crack on the outside. Place stones on a hand towel. Dab dry before grabbing them to make sure that they are not cracked on the outside.
  6. Using a pencil or pen, trace the outside of each gemstone on white paper. With scissors, cut out the background.
  7. Glue the white background to the gemstone. You can use Mod Podge or you can make your own. Using white glue, add one part glue, one part water and mix to combine. Glue the paper and stick onto the glass gemstone. If any paper is hanging off the edge, trim it with scissors.
  8. When the glue is dry, glue the other side of the paper, so it sticks directly onto the gemstone. Once it’s dry, you can add the magnet.
  9. Using a hot glue gun, add a drop of glue to the nonmagnetic side of the magnet and press the gemstone on top. Wipe away any excess glue. Careful, it will be hot!
  10. Place your magnets onto your fridge or wherever you use magnets. Or wrap them up for a sweet homemade gift!
