  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 22 oz jar marinara
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 4 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into 3 to 4 pieces each (approximately 10 to 12 lasagna noodles)
  • 1 cup ricotta
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella


  1. In a large pan over medium heat, add cooking spray. Add beef and cook for 4 to 6 minutes, until no longer pink. Gentle tilt the pan to the side. Using a spoon, carefully remove excess fat and discard into a bowl.
  2. Add the marinara sauce to the skillet, and then add 1 ½ cups water to the empty marinara jar and shake.  Pour into skillet.
  3. Break uncooked lasagna noodles and add to skillet.  Toss together until all noodles are nestled into the sauce.  Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low, cover, and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are al dente.
  4. When noodles are cooked, top with ricotta and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Cover and cook another 3 to 5 minutes, until cheese is melted.
