This past weekend my family went strawberry picking. We couldn’t have asked for a better day – the sun was shining and it was warm, but not too hot. Most importantly the strawberries were delicious. There’s nothing like eating a strawberry right off the bush. Sure, it hasn’t been washed, but it tastes like candy, sun-warmed, juicy candy.

You can see from the picture above that these aren’t super big strawberries, but boy are they tasty. Each strawberry is packed with an amazingly sweet flavour. They are so delicious that my two-year-old daughter couldn’t help but exclaim, “yum!” after each bite.

Strawberry Guacamole is a fun twist on the classic dish. As you may know, I love guacamole. I could eat it every day. Seriously. Whether it has more classic flavours or it’s packed with roasted red pepper, guacamole is always a crowd pleaser. Strawberry Guacamole is a delicious twist on this classic dish.

With a lightly sweetened flavour, strawberries beautifully replace tomatoes in more traditional recipes. This simple change adds a really flavourful twist. The sweet berries add a pop of flavour that’s so unlike any other guacamole. While strawberries add another level of flavour, it still compliments the other ingredients. The sweet strawberries perfectly balance with the creamy avocados, the tart lime and the savoury onion and cilantro.

Note: Strawberry Guacamole has more of a savoury flavour on the day it’s prepared. When it sits in the fridge overnight, the strawberry sweetness amplifies.

What a great idea! Small strawberries are usually sweeter, but I wonder if I could try it with raspberries.
