This recipe is a simpler version of my Sheet Pan Meatloaf. Now it’s made with just 5-ingredients, and barely any prep. Super Easy Meatloaf is perfect for nights when you want dinner on the table fast. It bakes in only 20 minutes and comes together in five quick steps.

You still get all the comforting flavor of classic meatloaf, just with less work. By spreading the meat mixture thinly on a baking sheet, it cooks more evenly and quickly than the traditional loaf shape. Since it’s thinner, you don’t have to worry about the edges drying out. With this no-fail recipe, you end up with a perfectly cooked meatloaf every time.

The glaze adds a sweet and tangy layer that coats each slice, making every bite rich and satisfying.. You can still enjoy it with your favorite sides, but now it’s so much easier to make. And it tastes just as delicious as the classic version.

A classic, delicious meatloaf dish

Meatloaf is a true classic dinner, and people have been making it for centuries. From ancient Rome to modern America, there’s a reason it keeps showing up on the dinner table. It’s practical, filling, and easy to make with ingredients you probably already have on hand.

One of the reasons it’s become such a classic is because it’s a true budget-stretcher. It showed up during tougher times, like the Great Depression, helping families stretch their food budget without losing flavor or nutrition. And it still works today, especially with raising grocery prices.

More than anything, it’s comforting. Meatloaf holds a special place in many people’s hearts. I remember how much I loved the flavors of meatloaf as a kid. The combination of savory meat, tangy ketchup glaze, and spices always made it a comforting and delicious meal. I always got excited when I knew we were having it for dinner.

Whether you’re making a traditional version or this Super Easy Meatloaf, it’s the kind of dinner that makes everyone happy.

Why This Quick Sheet Pan Meatloaf Works

When it comes to weeknight dinners, convenience is key. That’s what makes this simple meatloaf recipe such a helpful one. Instead of shaping the meat into a loaf, it’s pressed flat on a sheet pan, which cuts down the cooking time without losing any flavor.

Traditional meatloaf can take over an hour to cook, but this quick version is ready in just 15 minutes. The thinner shape helps it bake faster and more evenly, so dinner gets to the table quicker and tastes better than ever.

Every slice is coated in glaze, which adds a sweet and tangy layer of flavor. The edges caramelize as it bakes, giving you that extra bit of richness in every bite.

And if you want a dinner that’s both fast and satisfying, this one checks all the boxes. It’s quick, comforting, family-friendly, and full of flavor. Everything you want in a weeknight meal.

INGREDIENTS FOR SUPER EASY MEATLOAF

Prepare yourself for a mouthwatering meatloaf that’s not only quick to make but also incredibly satisfying. With just a handful of ingredients, it’s the perfect easy meatloaf recipe for busy nights. You can whip up this five ingredient dish any night of the week.

Let’s get the ingredients!

  • Lean Ground Beef: This is the base of the meatloaf. Choosing lean ground beef helps keep it lighter while still feeling hearty.
  • Parmesan Cheese: This cheese adds a salty, savory flavor and helps the meatloaf hold its shape. It also keeps it tender while it bakes.
  • Ketchup: A classic ingredient for meatloaf. It adds that sweet and tangy flavor and keeps everything moist, inside and on top.
  • Onion Powder: Instead of fresh onion, this version uses onion powder for a smoother texture and easier prep. It blends in easily and still gives that familiar flavor.
  • Egg: The egg acts as a binder, helping to hold the meatloaf together. It also adds moisture and richness to the dish.
  • Salt and Pepper: Simple seasonings that bring it all together without overpowering anything.

That’s everything. It’s simple, straightforward, and ready to go in the oven in just a few minutes. It’s the perfect meal for busy weeknights when you want something hearty and comforting without spending hours in the kitchen.

HOW TO MAKE SUPER EASY MEATLOAF

This meatloaf comes together in five quick steps. It’s ready in just 20 minutes and full of comforting, familiar flavor.

Here’s how to make it from start to finish:

STEP 1: PREHEAT OVEN

Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (230°C). The higher heat helps the meatloaf cook quickly and evenly, making the dish juicy and tender. It also gives the glaze time to bubble and caramelize on top and helps the meatloaf get that tasty crust on the outside.

STEP 2: MIX INGREDIENTS

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Parmesan cheese, ketchup, onion powder, and egg. Use your hands or a spoon to mix everything together until it’s fully combined.

Each ingredient plays a part. The beef is the hearty base, the cheese adds a rich and savory flavor, the ketchup gives it that sweet and tangy flavor, the onion powder adds depth of flavor, and the egg helps hold it all together.

STEP 3: PREPARE the SHEET PAN

Line a 9×13 sheet pan with foil and lightly grease it. This keeps the meatloaf from sticking and makes cleanup easier.

You can also place a second pan underneath to catch any drips. As it bakes, a little fat may cook off, and that extra pan helps avoid a mess in the oven.

Spread the meat mixture into an even layer on the pan. Then spoon or spread ½ cup of ketchup across the top. This glaze adds flavor while it bakes, locks in the natural juices, and gives each slice a sweet, tangy finish.

STEP 4: BAKE AND BROIL

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Then switch to broil and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes to let the glaze caramelize. Keep a close eye so it doesn’t overcook.

STEP 5: REST, SERVE & ENJOY

After baking and broiling, use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. It should reach 160°F (71°C) to ensure your dish is fully cooked. Then let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meatloaf, so each slice is moist and flavorful.

Slice the meatloaf into portions and serve hot. This super easy meatloaf is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal that the whole family will love. Every bite has that familiar meatloaf flavor, with just the right mix of savory and sweet.

ALTERATIONS FOR YOUR SUPER EASY MEATLOAF

One of the best things about Super Easy Meatloaf is how flexible it is. You can mix and match ingredients to suit your taste or use what you have on hand.

Here are some easy ways to switch things up:

  • Add Some Heat: If you like a little kick, stir in a pinch of cayenne, red pepper flakes, or some finely diced jalapeño.
  • Change the Meat: Swap the ground beef for turkey or chicken, or use a mix of meats for a slightly different flavor and texture. You may need to adjust the cooking time depending on the meat you use.
  • Switch Up the Seasonings: Garlic powder, smoked paprika, or Italian seasoning can add a new layer of flavor. You can keep it simple or mix up the flavors.
  • Add Veggies: Diced bell peppers, onions, or celery bring in extra texture.Sauté them first for a little extra sweetness and to make sure everything cooks evenly.
  • Cheese, Please: Mix in some shredded cheddar or mozzarella for a gooey, cheesy version. It adds richness and makes each bite feel extra comforting.
  • Try a New Glaze: Instead of ketchup, try barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or a mix of brown sugar and Worcestershire. Just spread it on top before baking.
  • Change the Shape: Shape the mixture into meatballs or mini patties for a fun twist. They cook quickly and are great for lunches too.

You can mix and match these ideas to make your Super Easy Meatloaf feel new again. And it still stays just as simple and satisfying.

What to serve with super easy meatloaf

Classic dishes like Super Easy Meatloaf go with all kinds of sides and desserts. It makes for a comforting, balanced meal that’s easy to pull together.

A fresh garden salad is always a great place to start. Use your favorite greens like lettuce, spring mix, or arugula, and add cucumbers and tomatoes. Top it with a simple vinaigrette or your go-to dressing like Creamy Balsamic, Greek, or Caesar. The crisp veggies are a perfect contrast to the warm, savory meatloaf.

Mashed potatoes are another classic. Their smooth texture goes so well with meatloaf. You can also serve macaroni and cheese, whether oven baked or stovetop. It’s always a crowd-pleaser.

Roasted vegetables are an easy win too. Carrots, green beans, or even roasted potatoes add color and flavor. Roasting brings out their natural sweetness, which pairs beautifully with the rich meatloaf.

And for a lighter finish, add a simple fruit salad. A mix of berries like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Their natural sweetness will complement the savory flavors of the meatloaf.

No matter how you serve it, Super Easy Meatloaf makes a satisfying, family-friendly dinner.

Frequently Asked Questions about Super Easy Meatloaf

Can I make this meatloaf ahead of time?

Absolutely! You can prep the meat mixture and spread it on the sheet pan earlier in the day. Cover and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before putting it in the oven.

Can I freeze Super Easy Meatloaf before baking?

Of course! After shaping the meatloaf mixture on the sheet pan (or in a container), wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and foil. Freeze for up to 2 months. When you’re ready to cook, thaw it overnight in the fridge, then bake as directed.

What’s the best way to reheat leftovers?

Microwave, oven, or skillet all work. In the oven, cover with foil and bake at 350°F until warmed through. Add extra ketchup or sauce if you like it saucy.

Sure. Finely dice and sauté them first to soften. This gives you great flavor without the raw onion texture.

You can use barbecue sauce, honey mustard, or a brown sugar and Worcestershire. Just spread it on before baking like you would with ketchup.

I don’t understand about the sheet pans? Why do you put a sheet pan under another sheet pan?

      at

The extra sheet pan underneath is just there to catch any drips that might happen when you pull the meatloaf out of the oven. It helps protect the oven and saves you from having to clean up any mess.
